  1. Poker Game
    At first it seems enchanting
    The cards
    The money
    The glitz

    It lures you in (Personification)
    With its promising reward

    You spend hours upon hours
    Playing the game
    Until one day
    It plays you

    Before you know it
    You’re trapped

Each game fills you with blind thrill
    The pain is ignored
    With each new hand
    You are restored (Consonance)

    Your life is numb
    Your morals shattered (Onomatopoeia)

    Everything you have
    Has been forgotten
    With each new game
    You lose yourself

    You never paid attention
    To the pain you made

    Now all you have left
    Are the memories of poker
    You gave everything up
    To be left broken

  2. Lost
Frantically searching for the nearest route
But no trail leads to where you want to be
    Rights and lefts (Consonance)
    Making wrong turns

    Screaming and shouting
    No one helping
    The woods as quiet
    As can be (Simile)

    A circle of cynicism (Alliteration)
    Looking but never finding
With the dark reaching out (Personification)
    Consuming your soul

    A maze of misconception
    Makes the experience
    All the more worthwhile

  3. Sunlight

    Love is like sunlight (Simile)
Infatuation absorbed through the skin (Personification)
    A chemical reaction of feelings
    I grow with passion
Shining out upon her, upon its source

Her love is like a tremendous storm
    Not terrifying or traumatizing (Alliteration)
    A thrill you chase

    Her love comforts me
    The calm after the rain

  4. The War of Love

The couple gets the temporary feeling of compassion
But in reality it is one big disaster sizzling (Onomatopoeia) in the mind of many

The ups and downs similar to the outcomes of a battle
Drifting back and forth it is hard to bear with the struggle

Bullets firing back and forth whispering a scareful message (Personification)
In the end, the result is an everlasting scar

    Love haunts the soul
Like that of a ghost (Simile)

With people left to start a new beginning,
    there is only one solution

    Love is war

  5. Rubber Band

    Fake and delicate   assonance
    Its elasticity seems endless
    Stretching and pulling   Onomatopoeia
It can only go so far

    Shattered, broken
Happiness exists in the circle  consonance

  6. Slip Sliding Away- Love Poem

You turn the key to start ignition, as the sparks fly
The engine roars, she comes alive
It’s icy out so be careful, you don’t want to die
She is right next to you, a sense of revive

You have fun sliding, a feeling to thrive
She says that she's done with you
She distracts you from your mission to keep you both alive
Slip sliding slung away, you don’t know what to do

The keys unturned the sparks are gone
She left you all alone, slip sliding away

  7. Broken Vase
At one point you were a beautiful vase (metaphor)
He decided to pick you up and promised
    “I’ll never hurt you”
You let him hold you as you trusted his words
His brown eyes and adorable smile constantly reassured you

    BANG! (onomatopoeia)
    Suddenly he drops you
    You’re falling
    and falling

    Hitting the ground
    Lying on the floor
    Searching for his comfort
He isn’t there to pick you up

    Promises obliterated
Shattered into millions of pieces (consonance)
    Feeling completely broken

Others try to come along and repair you

    It starts bright
    Exciting and with energy (Assonance)
    It takes work to get

The light flickers on and off
    and begins to dim overtime
    The energy and brightness dissipates

    The interest is lost (Consonance)
    And eventually it burns out
    Then we replace it
With one similar to the last

One that is brighter and superior
    Forgetting about the last

  12. Game

    Everyone plays this game,
They play with the intent of a gain.
    Win or lose,
    It's all the same.

It's just a pain when you get so far,
Only to die in a war.
Yet a struggle to stay alive,                         alliteration
You’ll die in a blink of an eye.

Then get bilked out of the time you put in,
Knowing it was all one huge lie.
    It’s like a dream,                                          simile
    Nothing but a fake reality.

You try so hard to stay alive,
In a fantasy that isn’t so easily depicted from reality.       assonance
You then realize it’s all just so depraved,
Yet there is no way to mollify the pain.

If you try to perpetuate the game,
It’ll end up exacerbating the pain.
You flounder while trying to forget,
But end up with more regret.

    When you lose,
    Try playing another game.
One that doesn’t come with pain,
    But one with a gain.

    Always remember
    Love is a game,
    With a lot of pain.
    Play if you dare,
    Beware of the adverse gain.

  13. Dance Monkey, Dance

    Weak and fragile
    Strings controlling your every move
    Dictating your thoughts

    Your master, your menace (alliteration)
Like a puppeteer he makes you dance (simile)
    A gullible fool

    Feeling complete
    Accepting the ordinary
Hoping that it will never end

    And then it does
    The dancing stops
You’re left there cold and afraid

    Heartache screams (personification)
    You wonder, why?
    While he’s controlling another puppet

  17. 3 little words

My love could fill an ocean (Metaphor)
    An overflow each beach;
It could stretch around the world
And to the heavens reach (personification)

    My love is even larger
Than there are word’s to say it’s true,

Took merely a month to grow

    Now I enter again
    My hope is an abyss(metaphor)

  20. Love breathes like you and me
Love moves from being to being
Love can also be dangerous and deadly
But love can cure and be healing

Love is the arrow sprung from cupid's bow
Binding two hearts into one feeling
When this love is broken it will leave the heart hurt and cold
Exuberating immense pain like a sheep shearing

When the heart is broken it is like a crumpled paper
It will never return to its past state with no folds
But can be flattened with patience and the right shaper
Who cares for this broken heart must be careful when they take its hold

    To love is to care
And it is a cross that everyone has to bare

  21. “Two to tango”
Love is like a tandem bicycle simile
    It requires two, in tune
To cruise to some cryptic tunes
    That prompt thought and cost

    Financially and physically
    Two too work this bike
Together all in at all cost
One lets up and the other fails

Feels forgot, but the slacker is just metaphor
A component to the bike, a replaceable component
And yet the rider does not replace the other component
Resets, revamps, refreshes, and restarts on another day alliteration

That day the bike may slice through the air or
    Crash downhill, bent, broken, ruined
Crumpled like a can unable to return to
    It original state.

  23. Heart Robbery

An invisible criminal up in disguise (Assonance)
Swiftly and secretly getting too close (Alliteration)
Trapped in a corner locked in with nowhere to go
    You need to get out

    He will steal it all
So precious and golden begging for you
Drugged and choking waiting for the weakness

Telling you are special like a slap on the face
Smack, the screaming and ripping begins (Onomatopoeia)
    Enveloped and stuck
    Stolen to never get back.

  27. Shooting Stars
    As the exquisite colors changed
    From the oranges and reds
To the brilliant blues and blacks (alliteration)
    Of the evening skies

What was (assonance) hidden before is now revealed
The true beauty of the evening
The stars from here and there (assonance)
    Living forever

Watching over us as we sleep
Shooting stars start (alliteration) to fall
    Granting us our wishes (personification)
    And creating new dreams

    Without the darkness
    We would (alliteration) never
    Find
    The shooting stars (alliteration)
